The day we have been working so tirelessly towards… The wedding day!
We are SO excited to spend this day with our family and friends. We cannot wait to start this journey together as husband and wife. The girls are so ecstatic to be gaining a dad, and we are looking forward to many more years together as one.
Although we have only been engaged for a short time, we have enjoyed it thus far. All the excitement that is building up to the new house and the wedding day is awesome! Nuri specifically cannot wait to stop driving “up and down” between houses! 🙂
Making arrangements for the proposal was one of the most stressful tasks of my life. Getting the ring sorted, making arrangements with the skydiving club and all Nuri’s friends and family members, all while keeping her totally oblivious to what was about to happen.
This was the hardest secret to keep. Because Nuriyah moonlights as the CEO of Golden Arrow, I had to make up lie upon lie to keep my plans a secret. I had to lie about when I was proposing, how I was proposing, when the rings would be done, etc. Was all worth it, though 🙂
Our first “date” was quite unexpected. Zaahir invited us over for coffee on a sunny Sunday afternoon, not expecting me to come.
We came over to his place and hit it off immediately. After a long afternoon of coffee and chats it was time to leave. He pulled out beautiful boquet of roses and gifts for myself and the girls. I was swept off my feet for sure! Ever since then, I have been getting flowers on a regular basis!
She totally stalked me on Facebook and I totally liked it.
The truth is that Nuriyah popped up as a suggested friend and she was way too fine for me to not try and chat her up. We chatted for quite some time, discovering that we had loads in common, including a love of science and the universe in general.

The wedding reception will be held in a magnificent banqueting hall with high wooden ceilings and tasteful decor. We’re looking forward to sharing a wonderfully-prepared meal with all our loved ones, breaking occasionally for speeches.

The marriage contract is signed in a “nikah” ceremony, in which the groom or his representative proposes to the bride in front of at least two witnesses, stating the details of the meher (“dowry” in Arabic). The bride and groom demonstrate their free will by repeating the word “qabul” (“I accept” in Arabic). The beautiful garden, dotted with 230-year old oak trees, is an intimately romantic setting where the nikah will be held.
